Martina McBride

My name is Courtney and I am from NH. I am currently a student and varsity student-athlete [in softball] at Stonehill College. I am majoring in Psychology in hopes of being able to give back and help people who have suffered from loss, depression, grief, etc.

My mother, Diane, passed away about 6 and a half years ago when I was 11 years old from lung cancer. She was only 42 years old. Not only did she show me how strong she was when she was healthy, but more so when she was sick. She did not suffer, but she fought until she could do no more. She was determined to beat it and gave it all she had. I had always wanted to be as strong and as determined of an individual as my mom was, but little did I know...I had all that in me all along.

Martina has given me the strength to wake up every day and know that I can be all that I can be and fulfill my dreams even with my mother no longer being part of my life. It is not easy to do. Martina reminds me so much of my mother...which is why I look up to M more as a daughter than I do a fan. Martina is my inspiration, my hero, my redeemer, and so much more.

Martina saved my life...and I know I am not the only one who speaks this here on this forum. Martina and Mville have also allowed me to meet some amazing people that I cannot imagine my life without. Thank you very much to a few significant individuals here for being part of my life and helping me. You know who you are and I love you with all my heart xoxo
