Martina McBride honored at the Hotel du Pont in Wilmington on April 25 at the 46th annual Common Wealth Awards of Distinguished Service

Country singer Martina McBride and rock ‘n’ roller Steven Van Zandt were honored at the Hotel du Pont in Wilmington on April 25 at the 46th annual Common Wealth Awards of Distinguished Service.

The awards, hosted by the PNC Financial Services Group Inc., are bestowed annually to people who “have enriched modern culture through their professional and personal endeavors,” organizers said.

In years past, there have been 217 awardees, including former President George W. Bush, Meryl Streep, Desmond Tutu, Toni Morrison, Walter Cronkite, Mariano Rivera and Laurence Olivier.
